Dedicated help at the places where it is needed most by (re)building homes and providing basic necessities through fundraising and stimulating the local economy.
The foundation's main purpose is to raise funds, not collecting goods. By solely raising funds, logistics and storage are not needed. We know from other humanitarian organizations that it is difficult to get goods into the Philippines. Customs may charge import taxes. Humanitarian organizations often use local officials to distribute the goods. These officials will first help themselves, family and friends (that are not in need) and sometimes even store it so they can sell it later.
By buying everything locally (Cebu city or Manila if needed) help will arrive sooner and we stimulate local economy.
The volunteers of the foundation will visit Daanbantayan regularly and make an inventory of where help is needed most. Each project is inventarised with photos and documentation. Raised funds will be used to realize these projects as they enable us to buy building materials locally and to hire local contractors.
All projects will be published on the website. In order to ensure transparancy, also the administration, yearly reports, minutes of board meetings, etc. will be published on the website. Donors, sponsors and everybody else who helped us can check for themselves what the money was spent on.
